Overview
Cocaine is a highly addictive stimulant drug derived from the coca plant (Erythroxylon coca), native to South America. It is one of the most popular illicit drugs. Cocaine, once snorted, smoked, or injected, acts on dopamine transporters and nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) to produce a "high". This high is immediate in its effects, but typically only last a few minutes to an hour.
